Vagabond Comedy | Tues 1st | 8pm | Free It’s our hugely popular comedy night, that’s guaranteed to tickle your funny bone like no one else. Every month Jordan Brookes brings us a variety of wonderful acts, from the experienced and world-weary, to the inexperienced and wide-eyed.
Bassplayers | Wed 2nd | 7pm | £2 (Free w/ instrument) Our jam night returns to bring you a dazzling showcase of Cardiff's best DJs and musicians in a brand new format. Each month Bassplayers and Trill Promotions invite everyone to come along and jam, mix and dance with resident DJs and musicians.
Jealous Lovers w/ The Others | Thurs 3rd | 9pm | £4 MOTD AYOR are back with another Jealous Lovers, a club night bursting with indie goodness. There will be another dose of the most exciting live bands, and DJs spinning tunes till 2 am that will make you dance like its 2006. This month’s headliners are The Others, an indie band from London who rose to fame as part of the scene that brought us The Libertines, with support from Black Russian, and Nine Plan Failed.
Swing Discothèque w/ Keith Little Trio | Fri 4th | 8:30pm | £3 Péchés Mignons continues his journey through every musical genre he can discover with the famed Discothèque, which brings the most exciting and crazy bands to Gwdih? in a night where literally anything can happen. This month we’re excited to announce it’s Swing Discothèque with Keith Little Trio, a Cardiff-based band that specialises in Jazz and Swing from the 30s and 40s.
Juju Nations w/ Two Man Ting | Sat 5th | 9pm | £3 Juju Nations brings its unique blend of afrobeat, funk and reggae to Saturday night. This month Juju Nations is celebrating its fourth birthday and to mark this special occasion Two Man Ting will be bringing along their reggae, afropop, jazz blend to the Gwdih? stage.
New York Block Party | Sun 6th | 4pm | £4 MOTD Péchés Mignons and Gung-Ho are bringing some Harlem flavour to Gwdih? in the form of the New York Block Party. Expect the ghetto blaster to be pumping plenty of hip-hop, house and broken beats with an old school party vibe and a line up of live bands that includes Hackney Colliery Band, The East Park Reggae Collective, Afro Cluster, Kind Louis’ Collective, and Gung-Ho DJs, as wells as home cooked food, an outdoor bar, fancy dress, a graffiti workshop, breakdance battles, and hip hop karaoke.
Music Matters Quiz | Tue 8th | 7:30 pm | £1 per player (max six players per team) Gather your notational neurons and ready your melodic mind... Music Matters is Gwdih?'s cure to pub quiz banality! This brand new quiz is set to test the outer reaches of your musical knowledge, combining interactive rounds with a broad spectrum of probing musical quizzing.
Ifor Bach w/ Mr Huw | Wed 9th | 8pm | £4 Ifor Bach brings the best Welsh bands to the Gwdih? stage. This month sees performances from Mr Huw with his whimsical Welsh folk, along with Eilir Pierce, and Olion Byw.
Harvest | Thurs 10th | 8pm | £3 Every month Harvest takes us on trip into the world of psychedelia. Expect a heavy-dose of trippy ambiance and sound, with acid visuals, sets from the premier psych DJs and mind blowing live bands.
Knees Up! w/ Third Party | Fri 11th | 9pm | £3 Gwdih? is pleased to welcome a brand new ‘mod and roll’ night to the nest. Knees Up! will be playing the best of New Wave, Post-Punk, R&B and Garage with DJ sets will coming from POP Chartist and Clare Robbo (Vinyl Vendettas). To kick start the night off there will be a live set from Third Party, a melodic local indie band.
Fat City | Sat 12th | 9pm | £4 Throwing caution to the wind with their eclectic collection of foot-tingling tunes, expect the best genre-bending rhythms from the contemporary to the rare-groove. Soul, Latin, jazz, house, electro, funk and hip-hop are all thrown together in a happy dancefloor-flavoured mix. With bands, DJs and a few exciting extras along the way, each month will push and probe the best grooves and new discoveries.
Dizzy Cuttlefish w/ Rusty Shackle | Sun 13th | 7pm | £2 Each month Dizzy Cuttlefish gets us jumping with the best indie, rock and acoustic acts. This month sees live performances form Rusty Shackle, Bridges, 50 One, Lisa Hopkins and Trystan Clarke.
Quiz Quest | Mon 14th | 8pm | £2 (max 5 people per team) After a year of hibernation in a box full of shredded newspaper, Gwdih?’s excited to announce the return of Quiz Quest, the multimedia pub quiz extravaganza. Quiz Quest specialises in themed quizzes and this month's theme is TV Comedies. So get swotting!!
Gig Diwedd Blwyddyn Prifysgol Morgannwg (University of Glamorgan End-of-Year Gig) | Tues 15th | TBC | Free We’re pleased to welcome back the University of Glamorgan for their end-of-year gig. All performances will be in Welsh, including a special acoustic set by new Welsh upstarts Yr Angen. Listen out for more acts to be announced.
Folk in the Owls Nest | Wed 16th | 8:30pm | Free Folk In The Owls Nest is back again for another night of folk and acoustic live music. Every month our little gwdih? goes in search of the best acts from around Cardiff and also the odd special treat from pastures more distant. Keep yours ears to the ground for announcements on who will be playing this month.
Eruption Button w/ Hallabaloo | Thurs 17th | 8pm | £5 After a brief hiatus, Eruption Button returns. Tour de Josh will be keeping you going late into the night with with fantastic indie pop, euro pop and rock n roll tunes. Liven up, have fun, don’t take it too seriously and an awesome night will be had by all. This month sees filthy ridiculous-fun live music from Hullabaloo, His Naked Torso and Greetings.
Tropical Boogie w/ Baila la Cumbia, DJ Sugardog | Fri 18th | 8.30pm | £3 Péchés Mignons presents another evening of hot, sunshine global beats. This month Baila La Cumbia takes to the stage with their Cumbia and Latin jives. With a heavy four-piece horn section blasting out riffs and a sexy four-piece percussion they are sure to get everyone dancing. Then DJ Sugardog provides the tunes to get you on the dancefloor.
Candela | Sat 19th | 9pm | £3 Join the Candela DJs for Cardiff’s only genre encompassing dance floor focused night. Candela is ready to indulge your ears into the morning hours with the never-ending record boxes packed full to the very brim of sounds to make you salivate!
Rhian Edwards Book Launch | Sun 20th | 7:30 | Free Rhian Edwards launches her debut poetry collection Clueless Dogs at Gwdih?. Already a noted performer of both her songs and poetry, this book confirms her startling talent. Rhian will be reading from Clueless Dogs, which will be available to buy throughout the evening.
Reel Outlooks | Mon 21st | 7pm | Free Every month Reel Outlooks brings us an eye-opening documentary. This month’s screening is of What The Bleep Do We Know, a film about quantum physics, spirituality, neurology and evolutionary thought. These complex thoughts are made accessible through the blend of dramatic film, documentary, animation and comedy.
Give It Some | Tues 22nd | 8pm | TBC Give It Some presents a pick of the best from the Cardiff music scene and beyond! Acts to be announced shortly.
Fat City Craft | Wed 23rd | 8pm | £2 Forget about work for an evening and embrace Fat City’s unique combination of craft-infused, funk-inspired fun. Where else can you indulge your inner Neil Buchannan while listening to the finest soul, jazz, hip-hop, world, house, Latin and disco tunes. This month’s creative inspiration comes from that most glorious of past-times - Food.
Balderdash w/ Sen Segur | Thurs 24th | 7:30 | £3 Balderdash is back with another overwhelming line-up of bands, and indie DJs to get you dancing late into the night. This month there will be psychedelic indie foursome Sen Segur, the triumphant Cardiff folk wonder The Gentle Good,alt/acoustic quartet Denuo and Cardiff solo artist Simon Parton.
Twlwyth Teg | Fri 25th | 8.30pm | £3 Péchés Mignons presents the folk/rock wonder that is Twlwyth Teg. Playing a shamble of folk tunes, the eight members range from Welsh dance group band members, to classically trained musicians, to heavy metal headbangers, take traditional folk tunes, and combine them with all these influences to create a unique sound. With an unrelenting enthusiasm they are guaranteed to get everyone dancing by the end of the night.
Funkadelic w/ Inc.A | Sat 26th | 8:30 pm | £3 A night of pure, raw, unadulterated funk - what else could you expect from Funkadelic. Tonight has a special performance from Inc. A, a collective of classical and jazz trained musicians consisting of sultry strings and a powerful brass section playing an original mix of jazz, drum and bass, gypsy, breaks, hip-hop and funk.
Car Park Delete w/ Move D | Sun 27th | 1pm | £10 Delete will be returning to Gwdih? this summer for a series of car park parties.The first kicks off with Delete's 2nd birthday, where they have Germany's Move D, Delete DJs and local Cardiff talent, bringing you over 12 hours of house music on a funktion one sound system.
Jazz Revh? w/ Arek Mazurek Quartet | Mon 28th | 8pm | £3 Our monthly Jazz night showcases the best jazz talents from Cardiff, and occasionally further afield. This month we are joined by Arek Mazurek Quartet. Guitarist Arek Mazureck leads an energetic four piece with an eclectic mix of material and grounded in the swinging straight style of jazz, while drawing on the rhythmic inspirations of funk, reggae, and world music.
Jazz Revh? Special | Tues 29th | TBC | TBC This month sees a special extra evening of Jazz Revh? with a line-up of very special surprise bands. We really wish we could tell you who was playing but we promised to keep it a secret!
