TED is an annual event where some of the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxCardiff, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxCardiff event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to provide two sessions of high quality, thought-provoking inspiration The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. Speakers already confirmed for the event include award-winning adventure film maker Steve Robinson (creator and producer of Tribe with Bruce Parry), Cardiff based astrophysicist Robert Simpson, digital strategist/photographer Paul Clarke (best know for his Tweetbike mashup) and Mediasnackers creator DK, who will be unveiling the results of this latest project based on 100 people’s stories about what inspires them. More speakers are still to be announced; for up to date listings and more information about the speakers visit tedxcardiff.wordpress.com, or follow them on twitter @TEDxCDF. This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED.
