CLIC/Meic At The Eisteddfod
Yes, we were part of the biggest youth festival in Europe, the Urdd Eisteddfod!
It was a fantastic success; the sun shined, the performances were of their usual high standard, the atmosphere was great and there were loads of stalls and workshops offering young people just about anything from arts and crafts to information and advice.
So, CLIC rocked up along with Meic and set up camp right next to the funfair.
When I heard where our pitch was, I got really excited at the thought of bumper cars, big wheels and waltzers.
But, when I turned up to meet Gavin (Meic’s coordinator), he looked a little tired from spending the last few days listening to the constant hum of the fair right outside our stand.
Anyway, earaches aside, it was a brilliant event. CLIC and Meic teamed up to do a quiz about both of our individual services. We asked questions like 'what does Meic stand for?' and 'what was the first article ever uploaded to CLIC?' It was pretty popular and we got over 100 entries.
We also ran a photo competition on the topic 'how do you see the Eisteddfod?' After much deliberation and chin rubbing, we picked our winner Owen (his winning picture is above).
We felt that this picture captured lots of elements about what the Eisteddfod is all about, along with some specific references to this year’s event at Llanerchaeron.
In the background you can see the old 18th Century villa which stands on the National Trust site where the Eisteddfod was based. He's also captured the Urdd flag displaying the green, white and red colours and even caught the train in motion, all in the same shot.
So congratulations, Owen, your iPod is on it’s way.
