'Freak' Alert At CLIC
How many of you saw CLIC's very own Daniel Grosvenor on the TV last Monday?
Yes, according to BBC Three we have our very own ‘freak’ amongst us, and I use that term in the most endearing way.
To those of you who have read Dan’s article Confessions of a Proofreader, you will already know of his obsession with proper grammar, and now Dan has decided to share that with the world on BBC Three’s new series Freak Like Me hosted by comedian Russell Kane.
They filmed Dan as he went around Cardiff correcting typos in graffiti, and fair play to him he managed to do this and promote this very website at the same time, by wearing his faithful CLIC t-shirt.
It was great to see one of my work colleagues on TV and to be fair to Dan he came off a little less freaky than some of the others on the programme: 18 year old still sucking a dummy anyone?
How proud I felt to be able to shout, “Look a bloke I work with is on the TV. I work with a freak! Woo-hoo. Go Dan!”
And yes I was asked: “Is he really that bothered about it?”
Yes he is.
It does make you feel a bit scared sending him e-mails, skype or twitter messages, but one good thing about it is that it does make you double check what you’re writing, which can only be a good thing for the grammar of today – which I’m sure Dan is thankful for.
I know Dan himself was so proud to be crowned as quote of the day on someone’s blog with the immortal words: "If typos were terrorists I would be Jack Bauer". Fair play Dan, great quote, along with, "It's like a blemish on the face of an angel". Brilliant.
So guys. Do you know that Dan puts together the CLICshot that some of you may receive by e-mail (if you don’t get it then sign up to this site)? I ask all of you to play a little game with me - Spot the Typos. After going on National television to declare his obsession to everyone, I think it’s only right that if he ever slips up that we should be the ones to point this out to him! Although the chances of this happening is very unlikely.
Did you see Dan on Freak Like Me? What did you think? Comment below.
P.S. If you’re reading this Dan, please don’t get that red pen out, it's really not easy to get it off your computer screen after! ;O)

Haha, I saw you Dan!! I just loved listening to you rant on and on about the different grammatcial errors people had made. And when you were correcting graffiti, that was genius. If typos were terrorists, you'd be Jack Bauer!!

*Quietly jumps into the CMS and corrects the spelling of his surname*
Other than that, the spelling in this is impeccable! :)

Just watched the episode. If only there were more people like you in the world, Dan! It's nice to know that I am not alone in my utter dislike of poor spelling, grammar and punctuation :)

And after reading your 'Confessions of a Proofreader' article, I apologise for the cringeworthy emoticon!
