Next BRIT Thing
Are you aged 11-19?
Are you interested in music?
Are you any good at performing or writing music?
Are you getting fed up of these questions?
If the answer to all of these questions is "YES!", you could be the Next BRIT Thing!
There are three awards available in the competition: rock/pop/urban, classical, and best composer/songwriter.
You have until September, so you can get writing and practising now! I'd also recommend trying to get some publicity, as it's the most popular artists that will be selected to perform in front of a panel.
You're allowed to cover songs, but you're not allowed to use anything from someone else's work; so no backing tracks you haven't made yourself, no taking bits from someone else's track, and no DJ mixes of a track you didn't make yourself.
You can enter as many times as you want, and details about formatting and boring stuff like that will become available when the website opens its doors to the public in September.
The Next BRIT thing has support from many celebrities, including Tinchy Stryder and Pixie Lott. There's also a section providing expert help on topics such as recording, performing, and even tips for those who want to pursue a career in music (Chris Singleton, a musician I interviewed a while ago, says, "Don't do it!" If that isn't good enough motivation for you, I don't know what is).
There's information for parents and leaders here so you should send your parents/guardians here if you're interested in this.
Good luck, young musicians!
