Racism Is The Wrong Word
OK guys and girls, so I'm guessing that the title of this article has you rather confused, but it's in fact rather simple. I shall explain why I think that the term racism is the wrong word for being prejudiced or negative towards people of another faith, religion or skin colour.
Let's break the word racism down:
- Race - this is a species of beings, be it horses, monkeys or the human race
- Ism - this is the stereotypical nature or the negative nature towards an individual or group of individuals
OK now to go onto why Racism is the wrong word.
If you are negative towards someone who is from a Black or Minority Ethnic (BME) group then you are being colourist, not racist.
If you are negative towards someone who is from a different religion to you then you are being religionist, not racist.
However if you were being negative to another race of beings (mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles... you get the drift), then you are in fact being racist.
So that is my argument on the word racism and I hope you all understand why I have written it.

"The term race refers to groups of people who have differences and similarities in biological traits deemed by society to be socially significant."
http://www.cliffsnotes.com/study_guide/Race-and-Ethnicity-Defined.topicArticleId-26957,articleId-26884.html
Race has nothing to do with species groups. It within species. People with white skin are of a different race to people with black skin. Therefore, "If you are negative towards someone who is from a Black or Minority Ethnic (BME) group then you are being" racist.
And a religionist is somebody with "excessive or exaggerated religious zeal." http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/religionist?s=t
The word you're looking for is sectarianism.
And, if you adopt Richard Ryder term as many people have, "if you were being negative to another race of beings (mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles... you get the drift), then you are in fact being " speciesist. http://www.richardryder.co.uk/speciesism.html
So - yeah.

i get your point ther Stormer, but i still feel that the Term Racism/Raceist is wrong, because as i explained in the article at the end of the day we are the "Human Race" but i suppose if you wanna go scientific then we should just say that we are all Homo-Sapian (Homo - meaning one kind, and Sapian - meaning species so therefore meaning one species) sure i havent done 100% of research on this and i may never actually do 100% of research, i just feel that the term is incorrect for use, sure in the dictionary it will describe racism/racist as being an individual or group of people who have a negative belief against someone of a different creed or skin colour, but still again i say its my own opinion and i feel that you should all be aware of it, and think about it for yourselves.
oh one more note the Term BME (Black or minority ethnic) has changed it is now BAME (Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic) (According to GwirVol)

I get that that's your opinion, but I'm just trying to make realise that logically and academically, it's wrong. I agree that racism doesn't cover discrimination against religion, but it does cover colour, culture, etc.
And yeah, I can tell you haven't done the research because from its Latin roots, homo sapien means wise man. Or knowing man. Either is fine. I can see where you derived the idea that homo meant same or similar, but that actually derives from homos, meaning same. That's where homos-exuality comes from.
So yeah, I can understand why you'd be misguided but I'm just saying you should reconsider and realise that racism doesn't cover other species, it covers us, humans.
And to address your last point, I don't bother with those terms. It changes far too often to bother keeping up to date... Sort of like Apple.

Fair point you have there with the article, it makes sense... Sort of...
I don't see why there is this must dispute on someone's opinion though because everyone is entitled to one and it seems as if you Stormer, are saying "no your opinion is wrong" it may not be 100% accurate but still, be a little more respectful?
