Fancy escaping the UK for a while and see what life is like on the other side of the world?

Well here is your chance. If you are deaf and fluent in British Sign Language then Deaf Global Exchange have a little proposition for you.

If you are successful you will join a team of eighteen people, half from Nepal and half from the UK and you’ll live together in a host community for six months. For three of these months you’ll be in Kathmandu, the spectacularly beautiful capital of Nepal. The other three months you’ll stay in Preston.

Apart from experiencing the exuberant and contrasting cultures of Kathmandu and Preston, you’ll have the chance to create and perform a series of Deaf/Sign Language theatre and work with local charities or community organisations.

Chuck in to the mix the fact that Deaf Global Exchange will cover the cost of training, food, accommodation, transport and all other direct expenses and you got yourself a pretty sweet deal (albeit having to live in Preston for a couple of months).

So if that tickles your fancy then email Deafway, one of the organisations behind the scheme at info@deafway.org.uk or visit their website.
