The Aftermath Of Christmas
So, that’s Christmas over and done with for another year.
Most of us have eaten too much.
Our credit cards and store cards are maxed out.
We received presents, some which we like and some not so much (that Christmas sweater or socks anyone?).
Most of us have spent Christmas with the loved ones having laughs and jokes.
Some of us have gone to church for that yearly Christmas Mass.
Most of us have been looking forward to that dinner that we could smell all day long.
On Boxing Day there is always that leftover turkey. We always try and use turkey with everything we can for the next few days. There’ll be turkey sandwiches, turkey dinners and whatever else we can try and use the turkey for. Eventually we normally tend to be glad that the turkey is all gone and sometimes we are glad to see the back of that turkey.
The January sales have struck and most people are running to the shops to be the first one there. However, what is the point of being outside the shops at about 5am when they don’t open until around 8am or 9am? Surely there are enough items in the sale to have a look at? That said, there are many great bargains to be grabbed in the January sales.
When the New Year comes along people tend to make New Year’s resolutions. Some may be keeping fit, losing weight, quitting smoking, giving up drinking and eating healthier. A New Year's resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to one or more lasting personal goals, projects, or the reforming of a habit.
According to Gretchen Rubin (author of best-seller The Happiness Project): "You hit a goal, you achieve a goal. You keep a resolution". However, sometimes these New Year’s resolutions do not seem to last very long.
All year long people are trying to save up for the next Christmas. Our credit and store card debts normally take a while to clear. Some people start with savings clubs with companies like that one that does hampers.
How is the aftermath of Christmas affecting you? Good times or bad times? Please comment below.

I'm a sucker for Chrimbo so I'm into it feet first on the 1st December every year. However, as soon as Boxing Day is over I want to wish the whole thing away. The penny drops when you see the TV ads for 'sale starts Boxing Day' on Christmas day or even earlier - sooo takes the wind out of the build-up to the big day.

The only good thing about January is the 3rd round of the FA Cup (this weekend!) and only then when there's a giant-killing. Bring on Spring.

My resolution is NOT to bump the bus again during the next residential. I hope I can keep it :(

I haven't got a resolution yet... Hmmm... I normally end up failing them anyway...
But one thing I dislike about New Year is the left over chocolates from Christmas. New healthy eating starts for my family next week and my mother is trying to get us to eat through the crappy ones to get rid. I suggested we bag them and give them to people in her and my stepdad's work place, but they've all had the same idea. Ugh, no more fudge or Toffee Pennies please...
On the other hand, I like New Year because it's a fresh start and there's awesome things to look forward to (Residentials, trip to Disney, summer, so on) but January seems pretty flat :/
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY xxxx
