The dark of night surrounds this place
Such an empty fear I alone have to face
When others sleep I lay awake
This darkness that falls I can not take!
It seems so childish to not truly understand
Why dark and light should go hand-in-hand?
I think to myself, why do I hate this so much?
Could it be the fear of an unwanted touch?
Maybe demons laying in wait under my bed?
The thoughts that run though my lively head?
I have my reasons, yet you need not know
I fear such an empty thing, but can get me so low
Maybe I lie awake for no reason at all
My reality, my dreams will continue to fall
To the wayside of such an empty fear
When I scream inside who will ever truly hear?
If I close my eyes
And weep this night,
Would god send me
A small ray of light?
