The Urdd's New Website
As a sports coaching officer within the Urdd I am constantly looking for ways to attract and recruit young people to volunteer to be involved in assisting and supporting our many sports initiatives throughout Wales.
After carrying out research into relevant websites, we decided that a new interactive website would be an excellent tool to help with recruitment and would greatly benefit the department in several other ways.
Our current website does an excellent job of advertising the movement as a whole, however following the recent development of the Urdd Sports Department, we felt that we needed a facility to highlight the many activities and opportunities available to our members.
The aim was to attract more volunteers and coaches as well as to advertise our current and future activities to club members, teachers and parents.
We wanted a homepage that would be interactive, informative and user friendly. A simple way for new volunteers to register their interest with us and for our currents volunteers to download any relevant resources.
We believe we now have a page which is eye-catching and attractive to children, young people and parents alike. It provides our club members an exciting way of keeping up to date with any club development.
Parents can find out about the clubs we have available, they can research into the Urdd Child Protection policy and in the future they will be able to access video clips of club sessions.
We will use the website to report on any previous activities and to advertise future events. It will enable us to highlight the work that we do with local authorities and National Governing Bodies.
On our links page we will gladly post links of those organisations with whom we work. We also have a section entitled coaching calendar and would encourage any National Governing Bodies to send us notification of future courses which they would like us to advertise on this section.
