Volunteering With Bridgend Youth Service
I'm currently a volunteer for Bridgend Youth Service and a youth information shop called Just @sk which is based in Bridgend town centre.
I have been a volunteer now for about 18 months and before becoming a volunteer I was a peer signposter.
This involved taking part in an OCN (Open College Network) Level 2 in Peer Helping Skills. After completing this course i had to put what i had learnt into practice.
The role of a peer signposter is to signposter young people to the relevant information. This sometimes includes signposting them here to the CLIC website.
I have really enjoyed being a volunteer and am intending to take it further where i will be furthering my education at university either at Newport or UWIC where I will embark on the Youth And Community Education Course.
I enjoy my role as a volunteer because I enjoy working with young people and it's important from someone who came from being a young person herself.
I believe that all young people should be provided with opportunities that they may not neccessarily get at home.

Bridgend youth service is currently on the verge of an Estyn inspection.
The Just @sk information centre will be visited on Thursday the 25th of February.
Im just hoping that all the hard woprk will pay off and that we will come out with the best possible results, as to be completely honest we have worked solid for the past few months.
And the effort from everyone has been fanominum.
Good Luck Bridgend Youth Servicee,
