  • A good way of working abroad is to do volunteer work. A lot of people are attracted to volunteering because they feel it is a way of contributing something to the world
  • The opportunities available are as varied as you want them to be. You can work on a farm in Israel, go on an archaeological dig in France, take part in a ecological project in Australia, work with children with disabilities in Wales or help with disaster relief in Ethiopia
  • Volunteering can often be a very rewarding way of seeing the world. If you volunteer in one place for some time, it will give you a chance to really get to know the community or area you visit and feel like you are making a difference
  • Volunteering is also a great way of getting to know people in your area. You'd be amazed at what you can find right on your doorstep. You could help out with your local Brownie or Cub Scout group, or at a local hospital or historic home
  • Volunteering doesn't always have to be done through an organisation. Why not offer to help an elderly neighbour in the garden or at home
