A Silent Plead
Note: Some of the themes explored in this piece may not be suitable for all. If you're affected by any of the issues please use the links at the bottom of the article and/or talk to Meic.
You wouldn't expect it from her. She walks around the campus, a beautiful and confident looking smile on her face. She looks like she has the perfect life. If only you knew her background.
At home, her parents argue every minute of every day. "I hate you guts!" "Go jump off a cliff!" She escapes the war as she heads up to her room and listens to some emotional music and doodles in her notebook some very pessimistic things.
She logs onto Facebook to see the hate emails from her ex-boyfriend and his friends after they accused her of cheating when they took a photo of her hugging another boy. The other boy was her cousin who she rarely gets to see.
"Fat b****." "You w****." "What a filthy s***" are the daunting comments she receives. Logging off, her music is interrupted by the yelling and screaming from her parents. "I regret everything that ever came from this relationship with you!" Her five-year-old sister runs into her room, crying her eyes out, extremely frightened. She has to look after her sister as if she were her own mother.
At last, there's silence in the house. Her sister, tucked up in bed, her parents either too intoxicated to move or in bed. Everything in the house is finally at peace. Everything except her. Sitting up, tears trickling down her face. The events from today replay in her head. "What a filthy s***" "I regret everything that ever came from this relationship with you!" "Fat b****" "Go jump off a cliff!"
Tears pour from her eyes as she rummages through her draws. She finds the scissors she used for wrapping presents. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath.
The next morning, she awakens. Blood dripping from her arm. She'd hoped for something more. Something with a more permanent effect. She isn't just weak. It's a silent plead and cry for help.

This had me fill up with tears. I know what it's like to have self harmed. That's what my username is about. To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) is an American charity www.twloha.com definitley worth checking out.

That's a really deep piece of writing. Well done. I don't know whether it is about you or someone else or just based on something else, but you're right. You don't cut just because you're weak. It is a silent plead.
If there is anyone who cuts just because it's "a trend" please think before you do it. It can be a silent addiction and remember, scars can be permanent. Whenever I look down on my arm, I see the scars. Although they are faded, they are still there and it's a permanent reminder.

Very effective. So many people go through this, even certain celebrities.
Look at the article I wrote for WICID, on the same topic.

This is really emotional to read because my sister used to self harm. Although it was before I was born (I think... or when I was a baby), whenever I see the scars on her arms, it really upsets me. If it had the permanent effect, I would't have the beautiful, amazing and extremely intelligent big sister that I have now. And this stupid French boy keeps upsetting her and I really feel like finding him and telling him to back off because I'm worried in case he drives her back to her old ways.
I've heard that song before which is really emotional with the video especially and I've heard about TWLOHA thanks to Miley and I did have a t-shirt but the dang tumble dryer bit holes in it -_- I wanna get a TWLOHA hoodie soon because I support the whole thing.
If anyone is suffering, please please please speak out. To anyone. Whether if it's a friend, family member, teacher, nurse, doctor, anyone. Or Meic. If you know me personally, you can even talk to me and I'll help you find the help if I have to. You don't have to suffer. Especially not Alone x
