What is news?
News can happen anywhere at any time; it is what is happening around us. It may involve current events, new initiatives or ongoing projects or issues. It could also be opinion and human interest stories.
What can I submit?
Anything. Creative freedom is our middle name. If you want to write an in-depth feature on the state of the nation, go for it. If you want to write a haiku poem on bats, ditto. We have articles on everything from spaniels to religious censorship. As the site covers all of Wales you may want to submit a story that could be relevant to you and young people living here.
I'm a budding journo. How do I write something meaty?
Remember the five W's: who, what, when, where and why (and sometimes how). You don't have to cover all these in the lead, but still mention it in your story, because the purpose of the rest of the story will be to elaborate on the lead.
Newsworthiness
Whatever it is you choose to write about, think about the impact of your story and why would other people be interested in it.
