CLICmas Recipe: Fridge Cake

OK guys and girls here is a treat that you chocolate lovers will love to make; it's called Fridge Cake and as it says on the metaphorical tin, it's a cake that's made in the fridge, so what will you need?

Ingredients:

  • 4 bars of Dairy Milk chocolate (the 250 gram bars)
  • 2 Mars Bars (cut up into chunks)
  • 2 Cadbury Fudge Bars (cut into 1cm chunks)
  • 10-12 Pink and White Marshmallows (optional)
  • 1 pack of Maltesers
  • 1 pack of Mars Planets

Utensils:

  • Saucepan
  • Spatular (or wooden spoon)
  • Pallet knife (or table knife)
  • Large kitchen knife
  • Shallow glass dish (or the lid from a large oval casserole dish)

First break up the bars of chocolate and chunk up the bars if not already done so. Place the broken up chocolate into a saucepan and heat slowly until all of the chunks are melted, but be careful as to not overheat or heat to fast as you will burn the chocolate.

Next, pour a thin layer of chocolate in the base of your chosen dish then scatter over your chunks of Mars Bar, Fudge Bar, Maltesers, and marshmallows (if you are a vegetarian you can leave out the marshmallows).

Drizzle over the remaining melted chocolate until everything is covered, then smooth out with a spatular or the back of a wooden spoon.

Now with your Mars Planets, place 20-25 pieces at random over the top of the melted chocolate and place in the fridge to set for between two and three hours.

After this time has past, use a flat rounded knife (normal table knife) or a pallet knife and loosen the chocolate from the base of your dish of choice.

Now with a large kitchen knife cut the fridge cake into bite-sized chunks (ask for assistance from a parent/guardian if you are of a younger age).

That's it! Enjoy your fridge cake!

If kept in the fridge it will last for approximately two weeks, that's if you don't eat it all first! Another quick suggestion, place three of four pieces of fridge cake into small plastic bags or wrap in kitchen foil and place in small gift boxes for Christmas or as treats at parties. Also if you enjoy fruit and nut chocolate, you may want to try putting dried fruit and nuts into the mixture.

I hope you all enjoy this recipe, I know I enjoyed making it and I'm enjoying eating it!

Oh. My. God. I need to try these! I'm going to keep nagging my mother for us to make them until she agrees and considering she loves chocolate, I'm sure she'll cave! Is this your own recipe or did you find it? x

When I saw the title of this recipe I assumed it was Jeff the Fridge explaining one of his strange dog-in-fridge stories I hear about...

Since reading this article, I've been nagging my mother to make these. She was like "Fine! We'll make them! But not yet! I'm not going to Asda's yet!" so I'm like "Get a move on, woman!!!" I need to try these. >< x

You wouldn't say that if you could see the state on my desk today!

Re. cakey - always ALWAYS goes down a treat at CLIC Towers, but we wouldn't dream of inconveniencing you this way. That said, I'll put it to the crew and there'll no doubt be a flurry of raised thumbs!

lol fair enough lol, tell ya what, ill raffle off my services as a Chef, for a day, in aid of a charity, and which ever CLIC Staff Member Bids the most, will have the control of my cooking tallents for a Lunch, and a Candle Lit Dinner for 2,

all i would ask is that the Winning Bidder, Provides the Produce and maybe Transport, other than that i am more than happy to Deliver My Services, in aid of a Childrens Charity within Wales.

(let me know what you think to this idea, i can even write an article on it for you)

Got something to say?
