Emo Hair Bad For Your Eyes
Let us all just sit down for a second and talk about stereotypes.
One stereotype is the emo. You know the like, the ones with the hair, the clothes and the music.
But it seems that one of the stereotypes' signature image is actually detrimental to their health. Yes, a doctor has stated that an "emo haircut", one that covers one's eye via the use of a fringe, can be a cause of lazy eye syndrome.
The doctor, named Dr Andrew Hogan, stated that "If a young emo chap has a fringe covering one eye all the time, that eye won't see a lot of detail. And if it happens from a young age, that eye can become amblyotic."
And for those who may not be in the know (like me, I only know because of Google), "amblyotic" is the technical term for "lazy eye syndrome".
But since that statement, another doctor, Dr Leonard Press, has said that "The story would only be true if you had somebody young enough, and if that person never looked out of that eye - if it was blocked 24-7... The reason it's false is that you don't have that constant deprivation."
So, there you have it. A rather lovely discussion into the lives of doctors and their concerns of the welfare of the stereotypical emo.
I should thank Ultimate Guitar for the source, who themselves heard it from NME.

This brought a smile to my face :)
After wearing my black, layered, stereotypically "emo" hair in my face for the past, I don't know, 3, 4 years? My eye sight's fine :D
It just made me chuckle that even doctors are stooping so low as to stereotype everyone with a fringe in their eye as an emo; I've just always liked the look of my hair like that haha :)
Surely it's more unhealthy to an individual by saying to them "your emo hair is going to give you a lazy eye", as by doing that you're telling them their not who they may believe to be, and possibly have them alter the way the like to look? My personal view :)
Great article though, I enjoyed the read :)

Haha, seriously?
Haven't doctors got better things to think about than how people wear their hair?
Like um... DISEASES THAT ARE KILLING PEOPLE EVERY DAY?!?!
If I had that kinda medical knowlage, I'd put it to some kind of use...
I've had a fringe for three years and it's never done me any harm!!
Great article though, I'm not dissing that!! Just the subject and the silliness of doctors...
