Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed an entire new service model and new partnerships at the recent Facebook developers' conference in San Francisco.

The websites landscape will drastically change with a new version of Facebook, aptly named Timeline.

The purpose of the service will be to represent the timeline of your life, from your first steps to your last. Zuckerberg proclaims that the serivce will tell, ”The story of your life”.

Alongside this Zuckerberg further revealed that Facebook will provide a service for users to automatically share items they have read, watched or heard. This will be achieved through a number of new partnerships with a variation of organisations, notably Netflix, Spotify, and Guardian.

This change represents Facebook’s transfer into an entertainment hub, where Zuckerberg's goal is to present a service that will act as a user's first port of call for entertainment and information, stating that the service will provide, “All your stories, all your apps, to express who you are”.

These developments represent a counter attack to Google’s new social network service, Google+, and Zuckerberg’s eagerness and tact to maintain Facebook’s position as number one.

The more complex Facebook gets, the less I want to use it. I've always avoided apps like the plague (especially cack like Farmville, which I have deleted 'friends' for using excessively and clogging up my page) and just want to see what folk have been up to while sharing my own pics and stuff.

Can anyone explain in non-Zuckerberg terms what the new changes are? Idiot terminology please! :)

Though it would be nice to see a rough timeline of "memories" I don't see how all this confusion is gonna help, I agree that the more they keep faffing the less people are to keep using! I can already share videos/pictures/links to show who I am, what more do I need? :)

Got something to say?
