This is the first in what I hope to be many adventures of the young and mischievious fox cub, Felicity Fox. In this story she tells her father of her adventure to the moon. I hope you all like this one as there will be many many more.

Felicity Fox Goes To The Moon

Her ears were perked up as she heard a sound behind her. She turned around and looked up. “Daddy you scared me,” she said as she saw her dad's big blue eyes and beautiful red tan fur. She moved closer to him and pounced, pushing her dad to the floor and she began to lick his cheeks in happiness. Her dad was writing there for a few minutes giggling away as he regained his composure, sitting up, sitting Felicity in front of him.

“Felicity, what are you doing out here?” he said, as he looked around the clearing, seeing the shimmering light from the moon in the pond. Felicity looked deep into her daddy’s eyes. “I’ve been on an adventure, I went to the moon, daddy, it was amazing,” she said looking from her dad to the moon.

“Daddy, it all started when I wondered out here, when Steven told me that there was this shining shimmering pool out here, that you could just live a lifetime looking into it,” Felicity said as she padded closer to the water. She lay on the ground and began to make ripples in the water. “Well, daddy I came here and sat at the water’s edge, I then kicked a small stone into the water and the ripples began to form, starting small and working their way out and getting bigger.” As Felicity said this she kicked a small stone into the water as she had before. "Then as I watched these ripples, the moon just seemed to get closer and closer and well daddy, I just stepped onto it.”

As Felicity explained to her father about how she got onto the moon her father sat and listened to her every word, feeling more and more intrigued and encapsulated in his daughter’s story. “As I stepped onto the moon daddy it whisked me away, and high up into the sky, I looked all around and saw our den daddy,” Felicity said splashing the water a little. “At first I was a bit frightened daddy but then I realised that I was safe and okay, I looked around some more walking over the surface of the moon,” she said as she walked around imitating what she was doing in her story. “I then saw this big metal object daddy, it was so big and shiny, I moved closer to it and then a light came on, and it shone down on me,” Felicity said with a sense of fear in her eyes.

Her father looked at her smiling. “Then what, honey?” he said. Felicity looked back to her father momentarily before jumping up onto a small boulder.

“Then all of a sudden a door opened up in the big shiny thing. I was so scared daddy, I didn’t know what to do, but then I heard a soothing voice, I looked up to the door and there was a white fox standing there, he looked at me daddy, his eyes fixed on mine as I plucked up the courage to step closer to him,” she said stepping closer to a bigger boulder beside the one she was sat on. “Then daddy I stepped onto the stairs that lead to the door, I sniffed the air to figure out who this beautiful white fox was, but you know daddy I couldn’t figure it out, his scent was so very different to anyone from our clan.”

Her father looked a little worried as Felicity continued her story. “So I asked him who he was daddy, and being a gentle fox he replied, ‘My Name is Soron, young one, and who, may I ask are you?’ he said, but daddy I was shy at first, but then as I looked deep into his stunning blue eyes I just smiled and said with a little cute stutter ‘I... I... I’m Felicity.’ He smiled and me daddy, his smile was so beautiful daddy,” she said looking around and smiling just like her mysterious fox did.

Her father smiled. “What happened next, Felicity?” he said. She looked to him.

"Daddy, he then invited me into the shiny thing, and when I got inside it was so amazing, it was like nothing I had ever seen before, there were these really weird flashing lights, and round knobby things, and a big screen that had a picture of the Earth and Moon on it with lines between the two,” Felicity said with excitement.

Her father was now very intrigued and wanted to know more, he sat on a small pile of leaves that were gathered under a small tree, patiently listening more intently, waiting on every word. His eyes grew wider with anticipation as his heart beat faster and slower in rhythm to the story that Felicity was telling. He could sense the belief within her heart and soul as she spoke. He looked up to his daughter. “What happened then, Felicity?” he said urging her on. She looked back at him.

"Well daddy, then Soron asked me where I came from so I told him that I lived close to this pond here, so he said that he would then take me home,” she said “but I told him I didn’t want to go home right away, I wanted to look around, so Soron told me that he would show me around and the take me home afterwards, so I smiled and said okay.”

Felicity jumped down from her boulder and came closer to her father. She sat down in front of him and then continued with her story. “We went out back onto the surface of the Moon daddy, it was so weird, Soron told me that my paw prints would remain on the surface of the moon for thousands of years. I smiled to him as I made my tracks in the sandy dirt.

As we walked I saw these big footprints, they were really odd, with lines and they looked nothing like my paw prints, and then Soron told me that they were the footprints that were left by the astronauts. I tilted my head and looked at him. "The what?" I said, Soron said that the astronauts were humans who had come to the Moon in the sixties to explore and conduct experiments on the surface of the Moon. I smiled as I walked beside him, his majestic fur clinging to his elegant body.”

Felicity continued her story. “Soron then told me that it was time to head home. I was sad but I knew that if I didn’t go home, you would be sad daddy,” she said, a tear forming in her eye. Her father wiped it away and smiled. “Continue, Felicity,” he said.

“Well, me and Soron then headed back to the shiny thing, which if I can remember daddy, I think Soron said it was a spaceship, I smiled as we climbed back into it. Soron then closed the door and started it up, and then all of a sudden a whoooosshhhhhhh and away we were, flying high up in the sky and across space. We were travelling so fast and before I knew it Soron had brought me back here, right by this boulder, and then daddy I just sat here looking at the reflection of the night sky in the water,” she said as she cuddled up to her father. “I must have been there for about an hour daddy before you came, it was such an amazing adventure daddy, but I’m tired now, and I need sleep,” Felicity said curling up.

Felicity’s father grasped his daughter's scruff between his teeth. He carried her carefully back to their den, giving one last look to the moon high in the sky. As he walked with her she swayed slightly from side to side. Felicity slept soundly as her father took her down into the den and to her bed. He layed her down, curling up close beside her, ensuring she stays warm by draping his long bushy tail over her small body. She whimpered quietly in her sleep, dreaming of her adventure to the moon that day, and wondering what will come for tomorrow’s adventure.

Until tomorrow, Vincent Xavier.
