iPad, Take Two...
2011 has been referred to the year of the tablet.
Since the release of the Apple iPad last year, Apple's competitors are fighting back this year with hundreds of new tablets flooding the scene.
Apple isn’t giving in that easily...
Since before Christmas, I have been glued to the rumour mill of the iPad 2. Back then it was just a dream and a second generation of the magnificent tablet wasn't imminent. Now, the rumours have become stronger and some are no longer lies of a tech geek.
I’m guessing you guys want to know the specifications of the sexy tablet? Yes, I did call it sexy.
Back in early December, nearly every Apple fan drooled when the image of an iPad 2 case was leaked from a Chinese accessories manufacturer Shenzhen MacTop Electronics featuring an aperture for a rear-facing camera, similar to the one seen on the iPhone 4. These images were removed quicker than you could say Apple.
I think that it is almost definite that there will be a front and a Facetime-enabled rear-facing camera.
In January there was an apparent sighting of an iPad 2 mock-up in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) event. This led to a video being uploaded of the mock-up which showed both cameras.
There is also rumoured to be a USB port and SD card slot but Apple being... well, Apple, I can’t see this happening.
There are many more specifications, all rumoured of course, so none of them are firmly set yet. It is rumoured that there’ll be a anti-smudge screen, HD video, gyroscope, no home button and possibly retina display. There is a large possibility of some of these happening but some are just hopes and dreams.
The iPad is going to be slimmer, more like a MacBook, more memory and have a faster processor.
IT WILL NOT BE SMALLER THAN 9.7 INCHES. Sorry for the Caps Lock but it is very much needed. People have been putting images into some people’s minds that Apple wants to beat their competitors by having a seven-inch screen. Steve Jobs has highlighted this will not happen!

Apple issued invites to the media to attend an event next Wednesday 2 March.
Attached to the invite was an image of the iCal (Apple's version of a calendar) icon which the corner is peeled back to reveal the edge of what seems to be an iPad. As mentioned before 2011 is known as the year of the tablet and at the bottom of the image it says 'Come see what 2011 will be the year of'.
So there is no doubt about it that the event is definitely involving the announcement of the iPad 2.
If you are thinking of buying an iPad generation one, STOP! Wait for the iPad 2, it’s around the corner! The iPad 2 will be around the same price of the previous iPad or even cheaper.
We shall find out tomorrow, Wednesday 2 March. Notice the date? 2 March? 2nd? iPad 2? Yes?

I stil won't get one! They're far too expensive and if youi can't write word documents on them, then what's the point?!

It's only £330. They have iWork so they can produce word documents.
