New Network For Police
North Wales Police are inviting residents to join them on the force’s official Facebook page or follow them on Twitter.
Through the social networking sites anyone around the world can get regular updates on what is happening across the North Wales force area. The Facebook page also includes details of the latest campaigns, information on how to report a crime, news plus other links which highlight a wide range of force activities.
North Wales Police’s Marketing and Community Engagement Officer, Delyth Jones said: “Social networking is an excellent way to communicate quickly and widely. Faced with a situation in which increasing numbers of people communicate through sites such as Facebook and Twitter, we have seized this opportunity to use them to communicate our latest news, appeals and campaign information to the public.
“Our Facebook site has been hugely successful since we began during the summer of 2010. We currently have over 1,776 fans and this number is increasing daily.
“It is a great way of engaging with people. It’s simple to use and although we have an open welcome, we are always exploring ways to have contact with our communities, to further understand their needs, and to receive feedback on our service. Social networking sites are a low cost form of communication that we can use to give people information about major incidents, key initiatives and events.”
The Force’s Web Manager Shaun Barritt said: “All generations are now accessing social networking sites and we would love to hear from people about how they would like to see our pages develop. We are also due to launch our new website later this year so we would love to hear from people to see what sort of information they would like on the new site.
“Even in times of restricted resources we will continue to investigate any new and cost effective methods that can help us make a difference for people across north Wales.”
