Yn Gymraeg

Peer signposting is a scheme set up in the Bridgend area.

It was set up because we believed that young people would find it easier to talk to another young person about their problems rather than talking to an older youth worker.

So this is where peer signposting began. It started with a residential to Newgale YMCA Outdoor Education Centre where we started the first part of the course. We then completed the second half of it in Brecon in a bunk house.

After completing the course we were assigned youth centres, clubs or schools in which we would use what we learnt to put into practice.

We have recently trained the third generation of peer signposters and I had the privilage of helping deliver the course with our youth workers.

Being a peer signposter is the best experience in the world and I would recommend it to anyone.

If you get the opportunity to do it, take the challenge. It will be truly inspirational and will give you the opportunity of a lifetime.

It also looks great on a CV and is great if you are looking to go into this type of profession
