Yn Gymraeg

A new information and drop in centre has opened for young people in Caernarfon.

Tŷ’r Ysgol is a centre especially for 11 to 25-year-olds and has computers that you can work on, information leaflets about all kind of things which affect you, and specific drop in sessions. It even has a lounge for you to sit in and a kitchen to make a cuppa while you’re there.

The centre is situated behind the youth club building in Penrallt.

The centre is there for you to use thanks to Cwmni Ifanc Tŷ’r Ysgol who have been working hard since 2003 to get this type of place open for the young people of Caernarfon and the outside area. The building was bought seven years ago back in 2002 and they have been sourcing grants ever since to get the place up and running.

The centre also has two rooms upstairs with bunk beds sleeping up to ten people which can be used to raise money to run the centre by putting up groups of young people visiting the area with different organisations.

There are Substance Misuse and Want to Work sessions run at the centre and you can also drop in at any time for information. They are also trying to attract further organisations to run sessions so it is a good idea to contact the centre to find out what is happening by either dropping in or calling Mel Jones the manager on 01286 672045.

The centre is currently open on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 4.30pm, throughout the year.
