Uniform Socks

This may seem a bit of an odd one but I'm just sharing my sense of impending doom / annoyance / stupidity of the world* (*delete as you find appropriate).

I work for the NHS as a 'frontline worker' and I have a uniform policy to adhere to by wearing the uniform provided, which for anyone interested is unflattering and not very comfortable.

Anyway, my point is that apparently also in said uniform policy we are told to wear plain black socks.

Now I'm not trying to be funny, but can't I have that tiny piece of freedom to choose what socks to wear?!

I wear fully enclosed shoes and my trousers are plenty long enough so it isn't even as if I'm some kind of sock exhibitionist!

Plus whenever I have bought plain black socks, they seem to be consumed by the sock devil that seemingly lives with me.

I love my sock collection, they allow me some amount of freedom in work so I am declaring a sock revolution! Funky socks unite!

It's the same with my school. I'm sorry but how on earth do socks affect anything? It goes for earrings,too. "Plain Gold or Silver".. err... why? Sorry are my heart earrings going to somehow disrupt my learning or something? Are they distracting you? Stupid rules, if you ask me. And the whole "one earring per ear" and all the other rubbish.

By the way, love those socks! I have similar ones but they have sheep on them :D haha x

Haha thanks... I own nearly every pair of monkey and moose socks going!

It just seems stupid, I'm not some mad sock flasher in work, I can see why I shouldn't wear jewellery to protect patients but how are socks going to cause any damage?! Next they will be telling me I can only wear grey granny pants... just to be on the safe side!! haha :D

I know, right? I'm worried about what crazy rule they'll be giving us next! And yeah, I understand with the jewellery thing for you because of the patients but I'm a school kid... how does having earrings affect our education? I reckon that they've gone nuts and now think we have some spy devices in our jewellery that can "Help us cheat" or something haha x
