Yn Gymraeg

So, as I am sat in the college library with my headphones plugged into the computer, the band that is making their way through the lead and into my ears are Young The Giant.

They are an American band who've delved into the category of indie music.

The members of this magnificent band are Sameer Gadhia (lead singer), Jacob Tilley (rythm guitar), Eric Cannata (guitaris), Payam Doostzadeh (bass) and Francois Commotois (drummer).

I first got into these guys after watching their video on NME TV, and from the first glance I thought to myself, "just another indie band", but no. Don't dismiss them as just another band, please, because they are something more, something special.

Their song Apartment became my only anthem for a month straight, and that's a song I highly recommend.

As much as Apartment is without doubt an amazing song, I am going to have to say that right now their song God Made Man is definitely on my list as epic! The song begins with a slow opening, accomodated by the romantic beat of the drums.

Soon Sameer uses his soft and seductive voice to twine all the lyrics to make a peaceful listen. Suddenly at the mark of 2:55 the song takes a dramatic but wonderful turn as it becomes heavier, but it still has romance. It is without doubt one of the best song I have ever heard in my life.

It looks as if 2011 is going to be an amazing year for the indie kids with bands like The Drums, The XX and Vampire Weekend becoming more known as the days pass through.

But is Young The Giant going to be the new band that reigns in this genre? Only time will tell.
